Royal Review Week 14

Another great weekend with clear skies. Lots of smiles!

Rookie Ball

River Cats

The River Cats started off the second of their season with a bang defeating the Pine Hills Giants 24-21.  Despite the heat, the River Cats managed to complete four full innings and showed some much-improved hitting with Sonny leading the day with multiple doubles.  The River Cats also welcomed a new player Alexander (Zandy) who provided some additional firepower at the plate.

Player of the week – Sonny

Little League

Little League Red
Little League Rams Red

Won against the All star sharks.

The team are showing great field abilities with making infield plays to first.

Little League Gold

Well a hot mid-morning game on the 27th had us battling fellow Windsor Little Leaguers Windsor Blue coached by my mate Shaun O’Brien.

The venue was the Rookie Ball field and although we were down to only eight players that meant out ninth batter was an automatic out, I thought we could be competitive and we were.

The Gold boys knocked up eight runs but Shaun’s lads put up thirteen and although we had a final bottom of the inning chance to catch their score, “Time and Game” was called at 11:45am and Windsor Blue had a deserving victory.

I had Max pitch to Caden initially and both boys did well including five hits between them.

Ellis then pitched to Noah then Dom and Caden also pitched an inning each.

Charlie hit a double and Eli and Finlay contributed with a hit each.

Time did us in in the end and I think we missed a few of our big hitting boys that were unavailable.

The game was played in good spirit and we have a Redcliffe road trip this weekend.

Little League Bandits

The Royals LL Bandits took on a spirited All Stars side at Hendra on Saturday. The game was a nail biter through four as the teams traded leads with timely hitting and aggressive baserunning on both sides.

Jake had a solid the start on the mound and helped himself by starting a slick 1-3-2 double play. Will F and Axel also had strong infield putouts early to keep the game close. Max M then took the mound for his 2018 debut, followed by Lewis who came in to shut down the Ninjas and ultimately register the win

The Royals executed a nice 2-6-3 pickle play in the fifth and Jake, Lewis and Will P’s aggressive baserunning helped provide a 3-run scoring play one a single past ball. The Royals ran away with it in the fifth, putting up 11 runs. The highlight of the inning was a line drive double to right by Deakin that scored two.

In the end, the 17-6 final score wasn’t indicative of the tight seesaw battle through four. Hat tip to All Stars pitcher Luka who worked hard on the mound to keep his team in the game. With the win, the Royals LL Bandits move to 2-0 in 2018 but take on tough Pine Hills and Padres White sides in the coming weeks. Go the Royals!

Junior League

JL Bandits

Big win this weekend against Pardes White. Callum pitched exceptionally with one walk and striking out the rest of the team. Unfortunately the heat got to him and he had to retire. The team rallied behind Callum’s work and hit the ball hard. Billy stood out with single, double, triple and an in the park error filled home run (I gather it counts at this age). Final score 15-0.

Senior League

SL WR/Carina Rams.

SL Rams had a good win against the Redland Rays, with a final score of 12 – 9.

Some good pitching from Lincoln Kennedy again and Riley O’Brien performed well catching, in exhausting conditions. The whole team had a great game, with some fantastic fielding during the game.

Well done WinSox!

Div 5 Red

Won 15-1 against Redcliffe
