Royal Review Round 5

U8

Another fun weekend for the kids!

 Rookie Ball

Pine Hills Braves defeated Windsor River Cats 27-15

Despite fielding the full team this week and a very strong game at the plate the River Cats were defeated by the Braves this week.  The River Cats demonstrated some big and consistent hitting but the Braves fielding proved too tough.

Pine Hills Pirates defeated Windsor Royals Cubs 27-21

The boys came out swinging on Saturday but unfortunately the quality fielding of Pine Hills was a little too good.

We couldn’t split the MVP this week so ended up with dual winners. Hudson A made an outstanding play at third base, picking one out of the dirt like a pro. He also crushed one over shortstop and into the outfield.

Liam N played his first game for Windsor having moved up from Sydney recently where he played T-Ball. This was his first Rookie Ball game ever and his skills with both the bat and glove were top class. Liam’s arm is a pitcher in the making.

Little League

Little League Rams Red won their game against All Stars. Boston hit an in the park home run and got two RBIs. Minu struck out 6 batters in two innings

LL Rams Blue @ Rapids Gold 8.00am – Pine River Rapids Baseball Club

Another game played well by our LL Royals Blue team.

The whole team play really well and it was especially great to see Cooper & Ari put up their hands to play for the other team who were short of players.  Great pitching from Hamish and Nathan.  Jordan did a great job as our catcher.

It’s not always about winning it is about coming together as a team and helping each other out.  It is about encouraging each other even when things don’t go right.  It is about enjoying what we do out their on the field and learning new skills.

Well done team we are extremely proud!!

Little League Royals Bandits Red.

First time the team has played a double-header and we were out at Redcliffe Rapids against their Red team for both games.

When the starting pitcher cops a ball to his pitching hand his first at bat, it is going to be a long day and that proved to be the case.

Two losses but the boys applied themselves well over two 1.5 hour games.

Max made a classic catch in left field, Noah hit a great double down the left field line and Charlie caught a towering foul ball pop up at the plate like the Big Leaguers.

Oh yeah, and the boys showed much enthusiasm to end the morning trying to knock down a game ball trapped high in the back netting

Little League Royals Bandits Blue

The Royals LL Major Blue team played a doubleheader at Redcliffe against a strong Padres White squad. A Grand Final re-match, game one was a tremendous game of Little League baseball. A back and forth game ended up in a 7-7 tie with Lewis F, Max M, Will F and Jake L each collecting multiple hits. Parker L started on the mound going 3 innings and striking out 8 while Lewis F went 2 innings striking out 4.

The second game was a 14-2 loss as the Padres White bats came alive and the Royals faded.

The tie and the loss put the Royals at 3-1–1 as they look forward to another tough test against Pine Hills next week.

Junior League

JL Blue

The start of the doubleheader rounds this weekend! Our first game was at Redlands taking on Carina at 10:15 . The game started well with Carina taking an early lead in the top of the first, but the team came back straight away in the bottom scoring 3. From there the team worked well together with Orlando throwing the entire game with Gabriel and Callum doing a fantastic job behind the plate. The final score 8-4 win on a hot morning. Big thanks to Cookie for coming out and umpiring behind the plate!

Our second game of the day was the anticipated game against Windsor. Played at home under lights, we faced off with both teams throwing their best pitchers. It was a close game with the Red going ahead in the first with 2 runs, then Blue coming back with 2 runs in the 3rd innings. The next innings went scoreless. In the 5th Blue went ahead by 1 run and shutting out Red. In the last inning, Red evened the score and with a passed ball scoring the winning run. Callum and Billy both pitched outstandingly with 24 strikeouts between them and one error in the field for the entire game.

JL Red

WR Red vs PH Lightning

We swung the bats well today and made the most of our run scoring opportunities scoring 9 runs in the first 2 innings. Only 2 strikeouts across 4 innings.

Jackson started on the mound and put us off to a good start. Jackson 2IP 3K’s  0 BB. Joey came on in the 3rd had a quick inning and had to work a little harder in the 4th to close it out. Joey 2IP 2K’s 3 BB.  Windsor Red  came up with the win against PH Lightning 9  to 4

WR Red vs WR Blue

Wow, what a battle on the hill…

Our opponents pitcher Callum was awesome:  6 IP 13K’s 1BB  job 13 of 16 outs by strikeout. His only walk was his last batter of the night.

We started well scoring our first two batters of the night. Callum then shut us down for the next 4 innings. In the 3rd Blue tied it up 2 -2 and the go-ahead inside the park homer by Callum in the 5th saw Blue take the lead 3-2. In the bottom of the 6th, Angus got on base and was able to score and tie it up on a base hit from Billy. Billy then was able to work his way around the bases and score the winning run.

Our pitcher Linden also did a great job 2 IP 4K’s 1BB and Billy 4 IP 7K’s 5BB.

Senior League

SL WR/Carina Rams. Unfortunately, this week, Beenleigh Hawks forfeited the game.

The Senior League Bandits beat the Ipswich Musketeers 15-7 in hot conditions at Ipswich on Saturday afternoon.

It was a solid, all-round team effort with every player contributing. There is a good team dynamic developing, with increased communication on and off the field.

In the pitching department, Xavier got his first start for the season and pitched well, with Jacob also pitching well in relief. They were supported by a generally solid defence.

As you would expect in a game where we scored 15 runs, our bats were effective right through the line-up. We saw a number of extra base hits, and an obvious increase in hard hit balls.  In particular it was good to see Jacob look so comfortable switch hitting, and Xavier hit a big double to left field.

While there were still a few errors and mental mistakes, it was certainly an improvement on last week.
MVP points this week went to Jacob and Joel.
Our other game was a bye.

U20’S

WR Blue took on All Stars at Hendra with final score 30 – 0. 30R 14H 0E All Stars 0R 3H 9E  Player of the week was Quinlan with 3-3, 5RBI,  5K for 2inn pitched.

WR Red Lost 8-5 against a strong Redcliffe team. They fought back in the last inning to score 4 runs and brought the tying run to the plate but failed to score. Seth McLelland pitched great, only allowing 1 earned run in 5 innings. Franco Natale was our best hitter on the day with a double and triple. Josh Marriott was our only hitter with multiple RBIs with a bases clearing double in the last inning. Also, great to see Josh and Sophie out in the field together!

SENIORS

Div 5 Blue v Red was postponed and will be played Thursday evening. Come down and support the two Windsor teams.

Div 3 took on a spirited Wests team on Sunday 5 November.

Ben C made his senior debut on the mound and threw 5 quality innings, limiting the Darra side only one run.   While the Windsor bats were relatively quiet early in the day and runs were limited, some quality at bats and focus pushed the score to 7-1.

Tyler Mcluskey closed the game with a solid outing.   All round our defence and pitching was solid with our offensive coming alive late in the game.

Side note – BJ Wall welcomed his first child into the world late thursday night – as such he was excused from Sundays game.

Next week we take on Redlands 2 at home.

Thanks to our scorer, fans and committee for ongoing support.

Div 2

On Sunday the slow pitcher on the mound for Wests had everyone’s timing off. That wasn’t the case though the second time around the order as the guys put 6 runs on in the 3rd inning to then canter home with a 9-2 victory. Cooper Thomson threw 5 great innings where he got better as the game went on. Takumi Kimoto and Franco Natale both kept up their hot start to the season in the batter’s box and James Franco continued on his merry way. Player of the week was Takumi Kimoto

Div 1

Sundays game, Windsor beat West Bulldogs 5-2
