Royal Review Round 2

Mutch Cup

The Windsor Royals were able to retain the Mutch Cup with a hard-fought win over the Pine Hills Lightning Baseball Club, the final score was  4-1. The MVP award went to Ryan Battaglia who picked up two hits with a home run.

Thank you to Pine Hills for hosting a fantastic night of baseball in memory of Paul Mutch and John Macan.

Need a bit of training but all the kids had fun!

Rookie Ball

WR Rookie River Cats completed four innings with a tie score against the Carina Raptors, 24 to 24.

WR Cubs had a great second game of the season defeating the Carina Sluggers 20-16. The kids all came out swinging with the tee only being used once or twice – a big improvement in just one week!
Lachlan Pawsey was this week’s player of the week having hit a double on his first AB and making some stellar outs; picking one out of the dirt at first base to make a critical out and fantastic heads-up baseball at second base to tag a Slugger out when he realised no one was covering the bag.

Little League

Little League Blue Rams 5 – Padres White 11

Little League Red Rams 2 – Padres Red 13

Little League Div 1 Red went down in a long, six-inning game 13-11.  Some highlights included a surprise relief pitching effort by Max Bartels and three hits to new player Mitchell Brown.

WR LL Major Blue travelled to Redcliffe Saturday to take on the Padres-Red squad. Parker Lovering made his inaugural appearance on the mound and shut out the Padres with two dominant innings including 4 strikeouts. Max Strickland set the pace for the offence with an out of the park homer and Lovering helped his own cause with a triple. The Royals ended up taking the game 15-1 by way of the mercy rule. The victory marks the second straight win for the Major Blues!

Junior League

JL Blue played Wests Bulldog. Taking time to adjust to pitching speed, it took the team a couple of innings to time the slower ball and get a roll on, but finished off the game with good solid hitting. Final score 7-1 after reverting back from 11-1. A good, solid effort by Orlando giving only one run with Gabriel Valdez-Cadena finishing off the game. Notable hitting was from Jordan Durbrige this week.

JL Red took on Beenleigh Hawks at home. Jackson Grounds started on the mound throwing 3.1 innings(9K’s,4H,4BB) to a tight strike zone.  The WR Red boys scored 3 runs in the first inning, 1 in the second; then the floodgates opened with our boys scoring 12 in the 3rd and 9 in the fourth inning.

Linden Richards entered in relief .2 innings(1K,1H,1BB) and all players gained hits and scored runs with only 2 strikeouts in 40 plate appearances! Joey Polidano went 3 for 3, Linden Richards 2 for 3 with a home run and  Billy Richters 3 for 4  Final score WR Red 25, Hawks 6
